This is from The Times of the Ages…
In Hebrew 9:1 we read about the worldly sanctuary Greek: « to hagion kosmikon ». The tabernacle (and the temple) stood in a certain connection to the world (the cosmos). They portrayed that world, were its expression in more then one way. There has been paid to little attention to this and still there is so much depth in it. The tabernacle and its service was a depiction of the world and the aions in all their meanings. These meanings are plural.
The tabernacle depicts:
THE TABERNACLE AND THE AIONS. The tabernacle depicts miscellaneous things. Also the times of the aions. Likewise Israel’s sanctuary with Israel commences 5 spaces, i.e. outside the outer court, outer court, inner court, Holy and Holy of Holies, depicting Gods design and rapprochement to Him, this way the aions depict the path of salvation God has for creation.
I. In the first aion, corresponding with outside the outer court, there is no humanity. Outside the outer court they burned the animals, who’s blood was carried into the Holy of Holies, Heb. 12. Of that aion is very little known. Ezekiel 28 shows us little of it. Gods Word is almost completely silent about it. Still, the fact that Christ suffered outside the outer court is of utmost importance for that world. Also for the sin of that aion He died on the cross, also for that He sacrificed Himself. The « outside the outer court » shows us the world without humans. There were other beings though, this is apparent from Job 38:7 where we read about the singing morning stars and the shouts of joy of the sons of God when the earth was fastened on its foundation. The first aion has its meaning; but there was no humanity. There was no « outer court ».
II. The second space, the outer court, characterizes the second aion, from Adam to Noah. Here God begins to form the world of humanity, an outer court, an ordered whole. In the outer court is no means for purification. She was populated with sinners, whom were not without Gods guidance, but there was no priest service, no central point to approach to God.
III. The third space shows the inner court, this is the third current aion. This is Israel, which as nation is set aside and find itself surrounded by the law, which puts up a dividing wall between the world of the gentile nations — whom form the outer court — and Israel. In the inner court the altar of burnt offering is placed. This way Christ advances in Israel, whom’s whole life was a burnt, spice, and thank sacrifice and was made a sin and guilt sacrifice. The laver in the inner court characterizes the purification by the word. This way the words of God were commended to Israel, to clean them of the world of the gentiles and make them approach God.
IV. The fourth aion is characterized by the Holy. In the Holy stood the table of shewbread, the candlestick and the golden altar of incense. Gods glory is not so revealed in the inner court. For that one has to go further. First in the Holy is given more. Like this God will reveal Himself more in three ways in the fourth aion, namely in bread and wine, light and incense. There will be bread; the bread of life will once again come down from the heavens and one will be able to buy without money. There will be wine, that makes the heart of God and men happy, (Judge 9), i.e. in spiritual enjoyment of and in God. There will be light. The light of the world will shine again and no one has to walk in darkness. The light will rise over Israel (Isaiah 60) and the gentiles will come to that light. There will be a light to enlighten the gentiles and to the glory of the people of Israel. (Luke 2).
V. The fifth aion is characterized by the Holy of Holies. This has even more glory. This way the fifth aion has more then the fourth. Is the fourth the day of Christ, one more veil and God reveals Himself in His full Glory. In the Holy God did not live, there is still mediation. In the Holy of Holies He was visibly present in the cloudy pillar above the ark. This way He will live in the fifth aion with the people. The full atonement has taken place, without mediation one can go to Him, the last veil is taken away; God lives with the people and will be their God. (Rev. 21) Seen this way the tabernacle symbolizes in and with Israel the 5 worlds and aions. It goes from glory to glory. Will Israel as the first born nation be led there first, humanity of which Israel is the core will get there as well. Everything goes on, on a small scale as well, there are believers that walk through the aions spiritually and can approach God now.
